A Beery Saturday at the Real Ale Festival
Our 4 hours at the Real Ale festival flew by, and all of the sudden, we had fifteen minutes to get back to the bus. Just enough time to go to inside the bar and get a growler fill. On the way back inside, though, there were a number of distractions.
Hey, there’s Dan from The Full Pint! Turns out he works in Santa Monica, we should grab a beer sometime! Hey, there’s Tom Nickel at the front booth selling commemorative t-shirts! Should I get one? Look at that guy, he’s got a funny t-shirt! I’m gonna ask if I can take his picture! Wow, here’s a friendly young beer advocate that just came from the AleSmith Bourbon Barrel Speedway release, and he wants to share some ‘06 with me!
By the end of the day, everyone is your friend. And sometimes, it’s hard to leave your friends behind.
Finally making it to the bar, I picked up some Black Lie IPA, something that’s not available in LA. On the way out, I popped into the Pizza Port bottle shop. As I was browsing the coolers, two PGers came through the front door and grabbed me.
“We knew we’d find you here. Back on the bus! You’re the last one!”
The 11th Annual Real Ale Festival was officially over.
